Barrie Shepley, ChPC
Current Coaching Position:
High Performance coach for c3
Past Coaching Achievement:
Former National and Olympic Coach
Barrie Shepley’s life has been changed forever because of the sport of triathlon. As a teenager, he got started in some of North America’s first ever triathlons. Realizing he had limited athletic ability, he quickly got into coaching and has spent over 25 years coaching athletes of every age and level. Barrie became Canada’s first ever coach to go to the National Coaching Institute and was Canada’s national coach from 1991-2001. Barrie was Canada’s first Olympic coach in Sydney, where Simon Whitfield changed the sport in the country forever with his gold-medal victory. Over the twenty-five years, Barrie has coached over 100 national and international medalists at every race distance. Barrie was inducted into Triathlon Canada’s Hall of Fame, was one of the founders of the National Kids of Steel Program, and continues to coach and race announce on a weekly basis. “I have seen the world, watched the world’s greatest triathletes race at every distance, and had the privilege of watching Canadians dominate at Worlds, Pan Americans, Commonwealth Games, Hawaii Ironman and the Olympic Games” said Barrie Shepley. Much of what I have seen and become, are in part, because of the great people that are involved in triathlon.
