Paratriathlon Camp - Call for Applications

Triathlon Canada is pleased to announce it will be hosting a new, Paratriathlon Training Camp in advance of the ITU World Championships in Budapest, September 2010, thanks to grant funding secured from Sport Canada. The intent of this camp is to support and advance Paratriathlon coach and athlete talent and Triathlon Canada invites applications from interested and motivated coaches and athletes.

Camp dates: Tuesday September 7 through Race Day, Saturday September 11, 2010

Location: Budapest

Eligibility:

Interested coaches:

• Must be NCCP certified in triathlon and/ or one or more of the three sport disciplines;
• Have a strong coaching record of experience, preferably with Para-athletes;
• Be highly motivated in the prospect of advancing high performance Paratriathlon;
• Complete and submit the Paratriathlon Coach Application Form; and
• If successful in the review process, will receive funding for travel, accommodation and per diem according to Triathlon Canada travel guidelines in order to lead and facilitate this Paratriathlon Training Camp.

Interested athletes:

• Must have a strong record of athletic performance, particularly in the past two (2) years;
• Be highly motivated to excel;
• Complete and submit the Paratriathlon Athlete Application Form; and
• If successful in the review process, will receive at least partial funding for travel and accommodation according to Triathlon Canada travel guidelines to participate in this Paratriathlon Training Camp.

Funding:

Successful Coaches (maximum of 2)

Coaches will have their lowest economy airfare, ground transportation in Budapest and hotel expenses (shared accommodation) paid for by Triathlon Canada.The coaches will be responsible for all other personal expenses.

Selected Athletes (maximum 6)

Triathlon Canada will cover the following costs for all selected athletes:

• Triathlon Canada Team Fees
• Triathlon Canada Uniform Fees
• Race Entry Fees
• Hotel expenses (shared accommodation)
• Facility fees in Budapest (i.e. pool fees, etc)

In addition the above, selected athletes will receive a travel subsidy towards their airfare and ground transportation expenses in Budapest.This amount is to be determined and will be provided upon return to Canada in September following accounting of all expenses.

Application deadline: 5:00 PM ET on July 9, 2010

Review process: The merit and strength of coach and athlete applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the Paratriathlon Committee of Triathlon Canada and recommendations presented to the Executive Committee. Applicants will be notified in writing of decisions within one (1) week of the deadline for submissions.
