2010 National Development Team
Triathlon Canada identified a talented pool of five athletes, including three men and two women, who will make up the 2010 National Development Team.
Victoria’s Andrew McCartney confirmed his spot on the development team with a third-place finish at the 2009 Under-23 PATCO Championships, and by winning the Canadian Championships. Connor Hammond, of London, Ont., returns to the national team after a strong season where he won the Canadian Junior Championships, and finished second at the Canada Games and PATCO Junior Championships. Victoria’s Jeff Phillips, who was the first-ever individual male winner at the Canada Games, rounds out the men’s development group.
Two young Victoria residents will represent Canada on the Development Team this year. Alison Hooper, who had a breakthrough rookie season competing in triathlon while winning gold at the Canada Games and Canadian Junior Championships, will form a one-two punch with Kyla Coates who was first at the 2009 PATCO Junior Championships.

Canada’s top duathlon athletes racked up a total of five medals at the World Duathlon Age Group Championships 2010 in Edinburgh, Scotland on Saturday.
