National Coaching Cerfitification Program Competition-Development Coach Education and Training Program Overview

Our Competition Stream has been developed to offer training and certification for coaches who are working with our development and elite athletes who are committed to reaching their physical potential in the sport. Competition stream coaches work in programs where athletes seek to achieve optimal performances by effectively designing and delivering appropriate training and competitive programming. In particular, Triathlon Canada’s coaches are encouraged to adopt a holistic approach to athlete development and all coaches will be asked to demonstrate competence in the following seven outcomes:

  1. Design a Sport Program
  2. Manage a Sport Program
  3. Make Ethical Decisions
  4. Plan a Practice
  5. Analyze Performance
  6. Provide Support to Athletes in Training
  7. Support the Competitive Experience

Three contexts of certification that relate to an athlete’s phase of development exist within our Competition Stream. They are:

  1. Competition- Introduction
  2. Competition - Development
  3. Competition - High Performance

For more information on each of our three Competition Stream contexts, click on the title of the context outlined above.
