BACKGROUND:
An active childhood, Kyle Jones followed the footsteps of his father who competed in triathlons as long as he can remember. Kyle’s Olympic dream in the sport took shape while lining the sides of the triathlon course with his family to watch his father race by. Like any young child looking up to his parents, Kyle started training with his dad just for fun, and entered his first “Kids of Steel” race when he was 10 years old. Today, it is his parents who are following his pursuit of excellence in the sport, and are his number one supporters.

Kyle’s steady climb to the top of the sport in Canada progressed rapidly during his junior years when started racing nationally in 2002, and won the Canadian Junior Championship title in 2003. His victory sparked a move to Victoria in 2005 to train at the National Training Centre – the same year he made his World Cup debut.

Kyle continues to edge his way closer to his first World Cup podium finish. He captured his first top-10 finish in 2006, and first top-five result in 2008.

When not training for his first podium finish, Kyle enjoys life on Canada’s beautiful west coast in Victoria with his girlfriend who just started medical school. Kyle is also involved with ActNow B.C. – an organization made up of athlete ambassadors promoting the importance of healthy living.

Kyle has completed two years in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph and will continue to pursue excellence in his academics while chasing Olympic gold in 2012.
